Perspective

I know, already a day without blogging and it's only January 4th! I was too busy having a breakdown yesterday. We had 9 days of post Christmas festivities, and I was determined to get Harry potty trained and sleeping till 6:30. Yesterday he got up at 5:30 and pissed in our bed by 10. I was beside myself.

What a waste of a holiday. We haven't been going out, and as a result I have become bored and cranky, Harry has been watching too much telly, and been rather unpleasant.

No more. We went out yesterday and it was wonderful. Everyone happy again. Far more important than shitting in a pot I think. Never again will I keep us at home unless we are ill. Life's too short.

A dear old friend of Sian's came to stay as well. It's nice to hear favourable comparisons about your child. Were all healthy and happy, and very proficient with the iPad.

I'm sorry you are struggling with the training. There are concessions no matter how you end up doing it. We were lucky in that we could do it how we chose (the lazy, less clean-up way, of course) vs. my friend who had to get her son trained in order to qualify for preschool (nightmare). She used ImseVimse training pants http://www.imsevimse.us/c-19-training-pants.aspx (padded underwear w/ v. light waterproof layer) to contain, vs. stop, leakage & accidents. Her son knew immediately when he'd gone, as it required a change of pants, but her life was easier as the mess was not EVERYWHERE. Let me know if you want a couple pair shipped over to you.

We went with the naked at home, diaper when out and about for months; we still use a diaper on long car rides and through the night because I don't want the mess/ stress. When we ventured out with no dipe, we def had to skip briefs at first as it felt way too cozy and like a dipe; it guaranteed an accident. Grif did well when a-dangle inside his pants.

He is now JUST at the point where he'd rather not be wearing a dirty diaper and asks us to change it or just takes it off when he wakes up wet.

It is entirely likely that serious, heartbreaking regression is in store for us both on any recent headway made once the new babes arrive. I'm trying to relax about it now (heh heh, my strength as you know) so we can go with the flow.

Off to school for the first time in weeks. I'm hoping I don't come home and sleep on the couch - I have to set up the cosleeper and find the baby clothes.
